As for the story of Ross's eco-Polo, I believe it was a test car
(for acceptance (homologation) by the Department of Transportation)
As the eco Polo was never sold commercially in the US, I imagine that VW got rid of the shell, but kept the motor to protect their trade secrets.
Do you know where I could find a tachometer for a diesel motor?
(the electronics are different from the petrol motor, and the speed only goes to 5000 rpm, as opposed to 7000 rpm for a petrol tachometer)
